city evolution

Since I am a grad student now I guess I should move to a more serious kind of posts, but I really don´t feel like doing it. I have enough seriousness at school.
I was scared at first that coming back to Chicago would be a remake of the first time, but (fortunately) it is not (except for the fact that tonight I am attending a party organized by the Spanish armada II).
I´d rather not talk about the homeless situation I lived for two weeks or all the extremely annoying and weird things that kept happening to me regularly like having two useless fingers and fainting alone in my studio when it happened (vampire but still scared of blood); or finding my pj´s on the floor outside in the corridor ¿? at 1am... etc.
I am trying to use the very short amount of spare time I have to discover little changes of the city. Some things stay just the same like the empty bottle or the jazz festival. Some have closed like filter or gourmond. And some others have reopened like pingpong or ginos. There are lots of new buildings, specially in the loop and south loop. But what I need the most is a change in the way of living the city. That is, discovering new spots or performances that I completely ignored the first time.

One of them is the Chicago Art District. There is a late night open house (free drinks included) every 2nd Friday at every gallery in the district. I definitely recommend it.

And the second one so far is the Chicago Farmers Market. There are different locations for each day but I recommend the one right next to my place @ Clark St. It´s a green market where you can find all kinds of fresh vegetables, fruits and flowers. It is a shame that due to the weather it only lasts until October...
